A giveaway is only fair if the draw is.
CommentPickers reads the public comments on an Instagram post or Reel, applies whatever entry rules you set, and picks a winner at random. No login, no permissions, no access to your account. This page explains exactly what happens in between, because “random” is a claim, and a claim you cannot check is worth nothing.
Four steps, and no thumb on the scale
- 1
We read the comments Instagram already shows publicly
You paste a link. We fetch that post's public comments through a data provider, in batches. We never sign in as you, never ask for an Instagram permission, and never see anything a logged-out visitor could not see on the post itself.
- 2
Duplicates are removed as the pages arrive
Those batches overlap, so the same comment can arrive twice. Each one is keyed on its author and text, and a repeat is dropped before it can become a second ticket in the hat.
- 3
Your entry rules are applied, and we show what they removed
Keyword, minimum friend tags, one entry per account, skip the post owner, drop obvious spam. Every rule is optional and every one reports how many entries it took out, so you can see the pool you are drawing from rather than trust it.
- 4
The winner comes from a cryptographic random number generator
Not
Math.random(). The pick uses the platform's CSPRNG, and the value is rejection-sampled rather than taken modulo the pool size. A plain modulo quietly favours the entries at the front of the list whenever the pool does not divide evenly into the generator's range. It is a bias nobody would ever notice, which is exactly why it is worth removing. Multiple winners are pulled one at a time without replacement, so nobody can win twice.
What we keep
- Fetched comments, for up to two hours, so drawing again does not refetch them.
- A record of each draw for seven days, which is what makes the daily free allowance hold.
- If you make an account: your email, and how you found us.
What we never do
- Ask for your Instagram password or an account permission.
- Build profiles of the people who commented on your post.
- Sell or share your data, or run advertising trackers.
The full detail is in the privacy policy.
Reading comments costs money, so the deep end is the paid part
Every batch of comments we fetch is a billed request to our data provider. That is the whole economics of this tool, and it is why the line between free and paid falls where it does: everyone gets a free draw a day with every feature switched on, and Pro lifts the daily limit and reads much further down the comments, which is what a giveaway with thousands of entries actually needs. The draw itself is identical on both: there is no fairer random for subscribers.
